Exhibition space Beckmans College of Design

Year 2018

The main concept of Beckmans College Exhibition in October was to create a bodice made of materials that we can find only in the woods. That was a very interesting journey because we had the opportunity to explore new materials and experiment with new techniques, while we were trying to create forms to create wearable bodices.

This bodice’s name is Needle-ss (without needles) Eve, and is made of the inside soft part of the chestnut shell. Hundred of chestnut shells. I found them lying down between some trees, in the forest. Some pictures of the process that I followed, are presented here, showing details of the materials.

Walking into the woods.

Finding a thorn, a shell, a shield, a fruit. All in all, the same chestnut.

There is always a way through the woods, always a hug through the thorn.

Needle-ss.

A garment as a shell. A shell full of shells.

Autumn fruits are falling. The green is now brown.

The red is still alive.

The thorns are now soft.

Eve, please make a new choice.

Take the thorn this time.

The rebirth of nature.
